Mission, Vision & Values

Australian Technical College Western Australia (ATCWA): Western Australia & New South Wales

Vision

ATCWA aspires to be a leading vocational college across Western Australia and New South Wales, recognised for turning students, including our growing international cohort into skilled, work-ready professionals the moment they graduate, across trades, engineering and design, community services, and the other vocational and professional fields we teach.

We believe practical skill and genuine care for people go hand in hand, whatever the field. Whether a student is training to design civil infrastructure, lay tile and brick, support vulnerable communities through our Community Services programs, or build a career in another discipline we offer, our goal is the same: give them real capability, real confidence, and a real pathway into employment.

We’re committed to keeping our courses aligned with what industry actually needs; reviewing our units, our delivery, and our facilities continuously so a qualification from ATCWA means something on a job site or in a workplace, not just on paper.

Mission

ATCWA exists to train, support, and prepare students,  Australian and international to enter and thrive across the trades, engineering and design, community services, and other vocational and professional sectors we teach. In doing this, we will:

  • Deliver training that is compliant, current, and genuinely reflective of industry practice.
  • Treat every student regardless of background, visa status, or prior experience — with fairness and respect.
  • Keep our promises to students, staff, agents, and partner organisations.
  • Take ownership of our compliance and quality obligations rather than treating them as a formality.
  • Support our staff to do meaningful, high-quality work, and back them to raise concerns openly.
  • Grow ATCWA sustainably, through the strength of our teaching and our reputation, not shortcuts.

Values

Practical Excellence

We measure ourselves by whether our graduates can actually do the job,  not just pass an assessment. Every course, cluster, and unit is built with real workplace competency as the goal.

Integrity

We act honestly in every dealing with students, staff, regulators, and industry partners; even when it’s inconvenient. If something is wrong, including in our own processes, we say so and fix it.

Accountability

We accept scrutiny from students, industry, government, and our own compliance processes as a normal part of doing this work properly, not as a threat to manage.

Respect

We treat every student and staff member  whatever their background, culture, or English proficiency, the way we’d want to be treated ourselves.

Openness

We communicate directly and honestly, with students and with each other, rather than leaving problems to surface later.

Care for Community

Through our Community Services programs especially, we recognise that education here isn’t only about employability, it’s about preparing people to genuinely support others.

Continuous Improvement

We treat compliance checks, course reviews, and even uncomfortable findings, like a unit listed incorrectly, or a delivery model that isn’t working as opportunities to get better, not problems to bury.
