Mental Health Resources

There is always hope.

This page provides resources that you might find useful for your own mental health, or to help someone around you who may be struggling.

Common stressors

Life can be difficult, and studying or working in a new country adds its own pressures on top of everyday life. You may be affected by things like:

  • Finding a work-study-life balance
  • Course pressures, assessments, and exams
  • Being away from family and support networks
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Others’ expectations of you
  • People who let you down
  • A tendency toward negative thinking
  • Mental health conditions
  • Feelings of guilt or shame
  • Trauma from past or recent events
  • Loneliness or homesickness
  • Bullying at your workplace or place of study
  • Exclusion from social groups

Most people struggle with some of these at one time or another, and some people experience it more often. It’s common to feel alone during hard times but while no one else can feel exactly what you feel, most people go through real difficulty too, and many have found tools and strategies that genuinely help.
